This one has a story. Our home was built in 1884. Recently, a door needed to be shortened, and our carpenter handed me the cut-off piece of the original wood.
Most people would have tossed it.
Instead, I smelled it.
What followed was a mild obsession with capturing the scent of old wood—the kind that’s been quietly aging for more than a century. Warm, weathered, familiar, and impossible to duplicate with fresh-cut lumber.
