You've Got Questions, We've Got Answers!
Why are my fragrances packaged in glass and sometimes in PET bottles?
Did you know that fragrances swell in the heat? During the summer months (or if we are shipping to a very warm area), we will use amber PET bottles to give your fragrance a little wiggle room to well, wiggle. In glass, the fragrance might swell and leak a tiny bit and ruin your adorable label, and we can't have that! This doesn't happen all the time, but enough to make the change.
Rest assured, we always use amber colored glass or PET bottles (because you really don't want your fragrance exposed to light). We also use PET bottles which won't ever leech to your fragrance. It's the best of both worlds.
PET bottles are also much lighter to ship. If you prefer amber PET over glass, just let us know in the notes at checkout and we will gladly oblige!
We would never knowingly and intentionally expose our Bees to harmful chemicals. As a business in Kansas with under 10 employees, Little Bee Scents is not required to comply with California Proposition 65. That being said, we do our very best to include warnings for Prop 65 chemicals anyway. Our focus is to bring you the best scents available and you are always welcome to research the ingredients yourself via the SDS to determine Prop 65 compliance. We have made the choice to continue selling all of the fragrances our customers have grown to know and love. We totally respect your decisions regarding our fragrances and hope that you will extend the same respect towards us. We appreciate you all so much!
Why Phthalates?
Simply put, phthalates are like mushrooms. Some mushrooms will send you on a psychedelic trip and others just make your pizza taste better. You can't lump them all together. They are not all created equal.
The phthalates used in Little Bee Scents fragrances are all approved by the FDA, IFRA, RIFM (Research Institute of Fragrance Materials), US EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency), the European Union SCCNFP (Scientific Committee on Cosmetic and Non Food Products). All of these approved phthalates help fragrances to bind together and help with hot throw/cold throw.
In our opinion, it's a personal decision that only you can make. There's absolutely no judgement on our end. That's why we offer phthalate-free fragrances as well as our tried and true fragrances that contain approved phthalates.
Are Little Bee Scents' fragrances safe for pets?
Our website has the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all of our fragrances. Fragrances are formulated to be safe for humans, and fragrance oils suppliers follow safety standards such as those defined by the IFRA (which is included on our website for each of our fragrances). The safety assessments are based on human exposure and fragrances are not designed to be specifically safe for pets. It is unlikely that any fragrance oil supplier would have data on materials related to animal safety. We can only recommend seeking advice from a veterinarian to ensure you have the relevant information.
